Level 8 Regionals

LEVEL 8 REGIONALS - 2008

Ok wow! I'm so sorry that this is really late! I guess I was getting a little lazy!

Well anyways... about Regionals, it was GREAT! I had a really awesome meet and I'm really proud of myself. When we first got there we got our leotards. They are mostly black with purple specks all over and the back is purple velvet. Then we started to warm- up.

The Pennsylvania team joined together and started there first event (which was bars).
The bars felt good and sturdy except for the fact that I kept hitting my feet on the low bar really hard. I did a pretty good routine and the judges gave me a score of 9.275 which was 15th place (haha!).

Then we had beam...(I thought) DON, DON, DON!! You remember how I always had trouble falling off?!? Well that day had to be a miracle because somehow I didn't fall off on my connection!! YAY! My routine was pretty wabbly though... teehee! Scored 9.325 and came in 3rd place. After we finished beam, my back started to bug me. It only hurt me a little but I REFUSED to stop competing.

So then was floor. This was a pain in the butt because my back was THROBBING but somehow I dealt with it. My score was a 9.45 but I got 10th place! The scores on floor were SUPER high!

Then last was vault. This had to hurt the most. The running, the pounding, the landing all hurt my back soooooo much! I tried my best and still did my regular vault
(tsuk pike) and got a 9.55 with 2nd place.

Then came all around. Everyone kept saying that I was the regional champion but something in me said that I wasn't. I knew that SOMEONE just had to beat me... which was true... heh.

I got second place all around Regional with a 37.6.
And thats my Level 8 Regionals
(my first Regionals EVER! YAY!)

P.S. Pennsylvania got first place in team... yeahh.. WE ROCK!

2008 Pennsylvania Level 8 State Championships

Well yeah... this was a really good meet for me. I am really proud of myself. When we got there they took our pictures and we started warm-up. It was just Rachel and I and it felt really weird. Even though we were only missing one person, it still felt like some dramatic change occurred. We started on vault. I was really nervous to be doing tsuk pike but it turned out to be really good. When I did my vault, it felt like all the rest of the ones that I normally do, but this time Sergei said that it was really good. I did my two vaults and my score was up.......... 9.675! I got first place this this score... I'm so happy to be Pennsylvania Vault champ! Then was bars... I worried most on this event. We went on two different bars but on the first set of bars, I didn't do routine. My routine was to do a free-hip on the low bar but I just broke it up and did low bars and high bars. Then on the other bar I did like one routine and then we started competition. I did my routine fine except on my low bar, my hand slipped off. I didn't fall or anything and I just kept going. My score was a 9.1 with 15th place. Then was beam. I warmed up and I did my back walkover back tuck and stuck it twice. Then when I went for my routine....I just had to fall off! I was soooooo mad! My score was still pretty good though and I got a 8.925 with 13th place. Now for my favorite event of all, FLOOR! Instead of doing a front handspring front full, I just did a layout to save my score. I ended up getting a 9.475 with 4th place. My all around was a 37.175 and I got 4th place. THIS MEANS I MADE IT TO REGIONALS! I'm so happy that I made it. Actually our whole level 8 team made it! Friendship Classic

Hey sorry I'm late again... Well anyways I had a meet in Pottsville, Pennsylvania called The Friendship Classic. My first event was beam. I warmed up and did all of my skills and then in competition I fell on my back walkover back tuck and my score was a 9.0 which was fourth place. Next was floor... my favorite. I did the same tumbling passes and my score was a 9.575 with third place. We rotated to vault next. I did tsuk tuck and my score was a 9.35. The tsuk tuck has a start value of 9.8 so remember that. I got second place. Last was bars... YIKES! Unfortunately I did pretty bad and got a 7.9... Yeah, I didn't place. Then we went into the auditorium and did all around. My all around was a 35.825 and I got fifth place! I got this really cool trophy that spun in circles and I have to say that really enjoyed myself. Well that was pretty much my meet.....

John Pancott Invitational

Heyy guys I'm sorry this one is so late... It seems I forgot... oops! I don't understand either because it was one of the best meets I did all year. Our first event was bars... I think. Once again got a 9.3 with second place. I thought it was a really nice routine too! Next would be beam. Our coach, Miss Tamara was judging us on this event so I was really nervous. My routine was pretty solid except my connection which is back walkover back tuck, which I fell on. I ended up getting a 9 with fifth place. Our second to last event was floor. I was fine and stuck all of my landings... well ALMOST all of them... I got a 9.45 which gave me third place. And last but not least... vault. It was fine and I got a 9.25 with fourth place... In all around I got my first 37.0 of the year... I got first place.

Heyy I just wanted to let you know...well if you've been watching my videos, I have been having quite a hard time with free-hip to handstand. We decided to take a few privates with a different coach. This time I had a private with Mr. Don. I think that he really helped me. We did this drill where he puts a mat laying against the high bar. I would put my feet on the mat and do free hip. This helps you with keeping your shoulders back when you go for free-hip. I was actually hitting a handstand and staying real tight. Below there's a video of the drill I was doing, to help explain it a little better.

AQUAFINA TEAM CHALLANGE

Wow did I have a big weekend! It started out on Friday night... we drove down to Connecticut, which was about three and a half hours (talk about long time!). I got settled in and started walking around with the girls from my team. We had lots of fun but I thought that at 12:30 it was time for me to go to bed. I got up at about 8:00am the next morning (Saturday) to eat breakfast, I had it with my teammate Bailey. After that we went to the meet. I got there early so I watched some of the session before me. When our competition started, I found out that I started on bars...nerve wrecking much? I ended up actually doing free-hip on high-bar (yay me!!) and my routine was pretty good, for me, (I though anyways)......My score was an 8.45...and I came in 6th place. Next was beam, I just got new beam shoes and I didn't get to try them out on the beam before this meet. Oh well! Well I stuck my routine and got a 9.425 which took 1st place. Then was floor, I liked it. I thought that I had a pretty solid routine and I got a 9.125 (surprisingly that didn't even take a place!). And finally was vault, The landing was pretty hard and it hurt my ankles but I dealt with it, my score for that was a 9.15 and I came in 3rd place. In all around I ended up getting 3rd place with a 36.15. What a big day!!

That night we ended up back at the meet for level 9 & 10 event finals. Lauren (vault & floor), Haley (beam) & Mia (beam) qualified for the finals. Lauren got second place on floor, she won a video ipod. Great job to all!!!

It's not over though!! I qualified for event finals which were held the next day. Which meant we had to stay another night.... yippee!!(not!!) I qualified on beam...DUH! Well I had a lot of time to warm up but somehow I forgot to warm up front walkover... I did it anyways... I stuck my routine but got a low score of 8.9..... :'( I thought that I should have gotten better than that but oh well! It still got me third place which was a Vera Bradley Bag. I really wanted second place so I could have gotten the video ipod but..... things happen for a reason...
